How this works
Each page is redrawn as a compressed image at the quality you pick, then rebuilt into a new PDF. That's what gets the size down — it works especially well on scanned pages and image-heavy files. The trade-off: text in the output is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need to keep selectable text, this isn't the right tool for that file.
